I succeeded in bringing a pair of pre-rolled joints into a Grateful Dead show at Wrigley Field, but not without the usual stress. Besides worrying about security, the J’s would get crushed, lost, or wet. A total inconvenience. This thought crossed my mind:
There has to be a better way to carry & conceal cannabis…
After lighting up at the concert, a light bulb went off. Why not sunglasses? How is it possible that this century-old accessory had not been adapted to carry items INSIDE the arms?
We jumped on the idea, realizing that it could be a novel product concept. We related to the common problem of security and convenience, and had a feeling that other cannabis enthusiasts might be able to relate as well. The next thing we knew, we were talking to people about the idea, and working with CAD designers who could 3D print sunglasses.
By sheer coincidence in November 2018, we met someone else who was trying to invent dual-functioning sunglasses for storage. Instead of storage for joints, he was developing the sunglasses to carry money, cigarettes, and Over-the-counter (OTC) medicine. He loved where we were taking things with the storage of cannabis, so we combined forces.
Fast forward six months, and the first 1,000 ViceRays Sunglasses are being manufactured with expected shipping in June!
See you on the road!
